Circle SC’s Pyjama Party: Cozy with a Cause 🌙

Things got extra comfy at Circle SC as our team swapped suits for slippers and hosted a Pyjama Party in support of National Pyjama Day!

But this wasn’t just about fun (though we had plenty of it), we dressed down to support kids in out of home care. 💛

Through fundraising, we can support the Pyjama Foundation empower children in care with the tools they need to thrive from learning support to life skills and a whole lot of confidence. Because every child deserves the chance to dream big, feel safe, and be believed in. 📚🌟

Thank you so much to everyone who donated!

NDIS UPDATES

Funding Periods Are Rolling Out

We’re now seeing NDIS plans with funding released in installments, typically monthly or quarterly, instead of the full amount being available upfront.

This change can limit your therapist’s or Support Coordinator’s ability to deliver intensive support at the beginning of your plan, when it’s often needed most.

💡 Key tip: When speaking with your NDIA planner, ask for either:

✔️ More intensive funding available at the start, or

✔️ One flexible annual funding amount instead of installments

This gives you and your team the freedom to respond to your needs as they arise not just when the next period comes in.

Building Homes, Supporting Choice 🏠

Dan connected with Alice, the passionate force behind The H Project, an SDA provider creating premium accessible homes across the Perth metro area.

Alice specialises in helping NDIS participants find their forever home: no shared accommodation unless that’s what the participant wants. It’s all about choice, control, and independence.

At Circle SC, we love collaborating with providers who put the person at the centre and with Alice, participants can always bring their own support team into their new home. 🏡

Words Matter: Introducing the Circle Person-Centred Language Guide📒

At Circle SC, how we talk about people is important, as it reflects the respect and dignity we aim to uphold in our support.

That’s why we’ve created the Circle Person-Centred Language Guide, a practical, respectful, and strengths-based resource to help us speak in a way that uplifts and includes.

Whether it’s avoiding labels or replacing words like “aggressive” with “distressed/heightened,” this guide is a reminder that language shapes dignity, connection, and trust.

People-first
Strengths-based
Trauma-informed
Non-judgmental

Here’s a simple but powerful shift:
“Participant was abusive”
“Jane* became distressed and heightened and began raising their voice to communicate their needs”

We’re committed to modelling respectful, inclusive language — in our notes, reports, and conversations with people. Every person deserves to be seen beyond their diagnosis, behaviour, or circumstance. 💛

NDIS UPDATES

Key Updates from the 2025–26 NDIS Pricing Arrangements & Commission Priorities

From July 1st, 2025, the NDIS introduced important updates to both its Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, along with clearly defined regulatory priorities from the NDIS Commission for the year ahead. Here's a brief overview of what providers and stakeholders need to know:

📈 Extended Access: Early Childhood Approach

The age limit for the Early Childhood Approach has now increased from under 7 to under 9 years. This change allows more children to benefit from early intervention during crucial developmental years.

🚗 Therapy Travel Capped

Therapy-related travel claims are now limited to 50% of the hourly service rate, with time restrictions of 30 minutes in metro and 60 minutes in remote areas. This is having a significant impact with many therapy providers now prioritising in-clinic sessions rather than home visits.

🛡️ NDIS Commission: Regulatory Priorities for 2025–26

The NDIS Commission has released its focus areas for the upcoming year, grounded in risk analysis, sector feedback, and findings from the Royal Commission and NDIS Review. These include:

  • Reducing and eliminating restrictive practices through behaviour support and ethical safeguards.

  • Tighter oversight of unregistered providers and sole traders, ensuring all abide by the NDIS Code of Conduct.

  • Proactive management of high-risk health concerns, including mealtime safety, wound care, and access to health services.

  • Accountability for staff capability, with emphasis on appropriate training, supervision, and workforce support.

Providers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these expectations and adapt their practices accordingly.
